In-House Counsel Event
MBM Intellectual Property Law LLP
Co-Sponsored
6th Annual In-House Counsel Event
at INTA Annual
Meeting in Seattle
During the
International Trademark Association's (INTA)
131st annual meeting in Seattle, Washington, MBM Intellectual
Property Law LLP co-sponsored an
annual event exclusively for in-house counsel. On May 19,
2009, over ninety guests attended the annual reception, dinner
and presentation of the 2009 Nathaniel Graves Sims Bowl Award.
The event was held at the Waterfront Seafood Grill on Pier 70.
John Bergin,
Chief Trademark and Copyright Counsel of Avon Products, Inc.,
once again hosted the event which was attended by in-house counsel from
companies in the cosmetics, fragrance, personal care,
pharmaceuticals and luxury goods industries.
"The dinner
continues to be a favourite event during
INTA and attendance was
strong despite the downturn in the economy. The attendees were
especially grateful for the continued support by our great
sponsors, Kelley Drye and MBM Intellectual Property Law of
Canada. It is an uplifting event evidenced by the strong
interaction of the professionals and their congenial spirit
and the good will felt throughout the room," said Mr. Bergin.
During the
evening, the Nathaniel Graves Sims Bowl was presented to Lisa
Gigliotti, Vice President & Chief Trademark Counsel at L'Oreal
USA, Inc. The annual award is named after the former Chief
Trademark and Copyright Counsel of Union Carbide Corporation.
The winner is nominated by his/her peers and selected by a
nominating committee. The Bowl, donated by Tiffany’s & Co.,
is awarded to and honours an in-house attorney for best
demonstrating Mr. Sims' professional qualities and reputation
for respect, integrity, honesty, fairness and congeniality.
