In-House Counsel Event
Kelley Drye, MBM Intellectual Property Law and ABP Patent
Network Sponsor In-house Counsel Event at INTA Annual Meeting
in Berlin
During the International Trademark Association's (INTA) 130th
annual meeting in Berlin, Germany, Kelley Drye & Warren LLP,
MBM Intellectual Property Law and ABP Patent Network sponsored
an annual event exclusively for in-house counsel. On May 20,
2008, more than 130 guests attended the annual reception,
dinner and presentation of the 2008 Nathaniel Graves Sims Bowl
Award, held at the Lutter & Wegner restaurant in the
Kaisersaal.
John Bergin, Chief Trademark and Copyright Counsel of Avon
Products, Inc., hosted the event, which was attended by more
than 120 in-house counsel from companies in the cosmetics,
fragrance, personal care, pharmaceuticals and luxury goods
industries.
"This in-house counsel reception and dinner has become one of
the most popular and sought after events during the Annual
Meeting", said Bergin. "While this private event is growing, it remains small
and cozy enough to provide the optimum ability for in-house
counsel in these related industries to network for an entire
evening. The list of attendees was very impressive. The
atmosphere of professionalism and friendliness was thoroughly
enjoyable. These guests were people of high integrity
who share a deep respect for one another. We are very grateful
to have this opportunity provided by the support of such fine
and highly professional sponsors as Kelley Drye, MBM and ABP,
who all do such a great job of making the evening a night of
seamless fun."
During the evening, the Nathaniel Graves Sims Bowl was
presented to Richard Heath, Vice President Legal
& Global Anti-Counterfeiting
Counsel at Unilever.
The annual award is named after the former Chief Trademark and
Copyright Counsel of Union Carbide Corporation. The winner is
nominated by his/her peers and selected by a nominating
committee. The Bowl is awarded to and honors an in-house
attorney for best demonstrating Mr. Sims' professional
qualities and reputation for respect, integrity, honesty,
fairness and congeniality.
