Litigation/Legal Attorney - Vancouver, BC

MBM Intellectual Property Law is a progressive law firm and patent & trademark agency. We are a dynamic, growing organization with offices located in Ottawa, Vancouver and Montreal. The firm represents a range of clients, from individual inventors to large multinationals, in a variety of industries including: software, wireless, mechanical, electronic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated attorney to join our team.

Position Responsibilities

• Assessing and preparing responses to claims involving intellectual property including drafting pleadings and motions for court.
• Preparing and providing patent opinions including infringement, invalidity, and freedom to practice opinions.
• Preparing contracts including licensing agreements, settlement agreements, technology licenses.
• Providing strategic and practical advice to clients in relation to the development and commercialization of intellectual property rights.
• Contribute to the diverse and fun environment within MBM.

Experience & Qualifications

• Practicing attorney with 2+ years experience in litigation, preferably in intellectual property litigation. • Federal Court clerking experience would be considered an asset.
• Experience with Federal Court of Canada practice.
• Undergraduate degree in Science, preferably applied science, or equivalent and a LL.B. /J.D.
• Eligibility for membership in the Law Society of British Columbia.
• Very strong legal and academic skills.
• Substantive understanding of intellectual property law.
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.

• Ability to establish effective relationships and work in a team environment at all levels.
• Ability to develop client relationships and practice.
• Ability to work alone with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
• Self-motivated with high personal ethics and integrity.
• Desire to develop a career and practice as an Intellectual Property Attorney.
