China Intellectual Property Summit 2013

Wednesday 19 December 2012, 08:00 - 17:00

Chinese government has been doing a lot of work to raise people’s awareness about intellectual property protection and enforcement since China joined the WTO. 2012 is a changing year for China and 2013 will be a stimulating yet challenging year for China IP practitioners. After years of work on protecting IP, companies in China is getting more and more focused on this intangible capital. People always asking: Is China really getting serious about protecting people's ideas? There are promising signs. Chinese firms keen on expanding overseas are investing heavily to develop and protect original technologies. In 2011, ZTE and Huawei, which make telecoms gear, stood at numbers one and three in the tally of global patent applications. At home, the numbers both of patent filings and of IP lawsuits brought by Chinese firms have grown by double digits. Obviously, we will have many to discuss about the IP protection, asset management, comercialization, etc.
