Jamal Hakimi

Intellectual Property Lawyer

Jamal is a patent lawyer at MBM's Ottawa office. 

Jamal graduated from the University of Ottawa in April 2018 after completing his joint JD-MBA degree. As part of his MBA studies, Jamal and his team consulted a software-based start-up on a business development and go-to-market strategy. During his law school, Jamal competed in mooting and negotiation competitions including the inaugural Canadian Copyright Policy Moot. Jamal and his team won the best policy briefing proposing a copyright exception to text and data mining in support of Canada’s artificial intelligence strategy. Jamal also interned at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office where he drafted various documents. 

Before law school, Jamal obtained his Bachelor and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ottawa. During his engineering studies, Jamal worked on various design projects including turbine blades and combustion engines. 

In his spare time, Jamal enjoys playing soccer and watching anime.
