Kiyomi Sakurai

IP Legal Administrator

Kiyomi joined MBM in November 2021 as an Office Administrator. In February 2022, she transitioned into the Legal Administration team, and in November 2022, Kiyomi transitioned to a patent paralegal role with the MBM’s Patent Prosecution team. Her responsibilities include Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) correspondence as well as patent formalities, including Information Disclosure Statements, Assignments, and Statements of Entitlement at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She also assists with Office Action responses during the prosecution phase and general client profile management. Prior to joining MBM, Kiyomi worked as an executive assistant and an IP administrator both in Canada and Tokyo, Japan.

In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, oil painting, and playing piano and guitar.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Literature - Sagami Women’s University
  • Paralegal Diploma - Algonquin College
