Ariadni Athanassiadis

Ariadni Athanassiadis is a partner of the firm and focuses on the development of intellectual property portfolios and opportunities with clients, including the creation and maintenance of patent, industrial design and trademark portfolios and worldwide intellectual property protection and leveraging. She counsels clients in prosecution, licensing and with regard to protests, re-examination and opposition proceedings. As part of the firm’s IP Due Diligence Team, she has experience in all areas relating to the transfer and acquisition of intellectual property. She also advises clients on issues relating to the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, the Food and Drug Regulations, and the processes of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board.

Ariadni has worked as a researcher at the McGill University Cancer Center and the Biotechnology Research Institute in Montreal. Her research experience spans such diverse areas as polyamine heterocyclic chemistry, osteoarthritis, cystic fibrosis and the molecular biology of protein glycosylation enzymes. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) as well as a registered Patent and Trademark Agent. In addition to having authored and co-authored publications in both science and law, she is a part-time lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa in the area of Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals and Intellectual Property and has lectured at the University of Toronto and at the Franklin Pierce Law Center.
