Aiyaz Alibhai manages the firm’s Vancouver office and is Chair of the Litigation Department (Vancouver). He is a Professional Engineer who practices in all areas of Canadian intellectual property law. His patent experience includes speech-recognition, semi-conductors, and the patenting of business methods. Aiyaz counsels clients on trademark clearance and filing strategies. He also has extensive experience with litigation issues associated with the protection and enforcement of intellectual property and technology agreements. He has appeared before Administrative Tribunals, Superior Courts, Federal Courts and various Appellate Courts. He is also a member of MBM’s Board of Directors.

Prior to joining MBM, Aiyaz’s career involved the research and development of jet engines at Pratt & Whitney. He also worked with a general practice firm where he provided strategic advice on employment, confidentiality, non-disclosure and non-competition agreements, and serviced clients in litigation associated with these areas. Aiyaz clerked at the Supreme Court of British Columbia where he was involved in the preparation of opinions for Justices of the Court. He is counsel to Marusyk Miller & Swain LLP.
