Aiyaz A. Alibhai, P.Eng.
Aiyaz is a partner of the
firm and manages the firm’s Vancouver office and is Chair of
the Legal-Litigation Department (Vancouver). Aiyaz has
extensive experience in all aspects of Intellectual Property
litigation, including appearances before the Federal and
Superior Trial and Appeal Courts, Patent Appeal Board and
Trade-mark Opposition Board. He is experienced in arbitration,
preparing opinions of counsel regarding infringement,
invalidly and freedom to practice, technology transfer and
licensing, and due diligence investigations for corporate
transactions. Aiyaz counsels clients in various technologies
including electronics, optoelectronics, electromechanical,
mechanical and medical devices; life science applications and
tools; and methods of doing business. Prior to practicing law,
he was a structural engineer and designed aircraft engines at
Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Montreal. Aiyaz clerked at the
Supreme Court of British Columbia where he was involved in the
research and preparation of opinions for Justices of the
Court.
