Scott Miller
Scott Miller is a partner
with the firm, Chair of the Litigation Department (Ottawa),
and Chair of the Firm’s Trademark Practice Group. His practice
focuses on litigation matters covering patent, trademark,
copyright, industrial design, trade secret, and confidential
information litigation. As a senior member of MBM's Notice of
Compliance (NOC) Practice Group, Scott's practice has
naturally progressed to NOC matters in Canada, including the
development of NOC strategies at an early stage of the drug
patent process.
Scott has broad trial,
injunction, mediation, and ADR experience. He is a regular
advocate before the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court
of Appeal, as well as the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
Scott has also appeared before a number of Superior Courts
across the country on a variety of intellectual property
matters and has successfully executed several Anton Pillar
motions. Scott has successfully enforced trademark and patent
rights for several multinational companies in the fields of
medical devices, cosmetics, optics, telecommunications and alcoholic beverages.
He is a member of MBM’s Board of Directors.
Providing educational
seminars to the firm’s clients, Scott is a regular speaker for
a variety of professional associations on subjects relating to
patents, trademarks, and copyright protection. He also
lectures on litigation law at a local college.
