Dr. Catherine Soo
Catherine Soo prosecutes
patents in the field of pharmacology, molecular biology and
biochemistry. She has extensive knowledge of Canadian and
foreign patent practice, including PCT procedure. Catherine
oversees and manages client patent and industrial design
portfolios by working closely with the Patent Agency
Department to ensure that client records and administrative
procedures are streamlined and accurate.
Catherine has a broad
scientific background and has acquired research experience in
a variety of areas such as pharmacology, rheumatology,
immunology, molecular biology and cancer research. She
has worked in research labs throughout the United Kingdom and
North America where she gained a solid breadth of experience.
Of particular mention is her work with an inflammatory
disease group at the St Bartholomew’s and Royal London
Hospital School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of
London, UK, focusing on the pharmacology, pathology and
treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, followed by research
activities in the field of prostate cancer bone metastases at
the University of Washington, Seattle and more recently, her
investigations into the role of antioxidants in the prevention
of genetic instability in a murine fibrosarcoma model at the
Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre.
